A born and bred Arlingtonite, Dr. Jenny Nguyen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. During her time at UT Arlington, Dr. Nguyen discovered her passion for optometry working as a medical technician for a private optometry practice, which led to her involvement in the pre-optometry association in college. She was then accepted to the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she was an active member of various student organizations, such as AOA, STOA, SOPMA, and SVOSH.
While at UHCO, Dr. Nguyen completed her first clinical externship at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, where patient care was focused on treating ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, as well as fitting specialty contact lenses. Her second clinical externship was at the Datapoint Veterans Affairs Clinic in San Antonio, where she routinely worked hand-in-hand with ophthalmologists in managing and treating various eye pathologies such as macular degeneration, and provided comprehensive eye exams to veterans with both combat and civilian-related Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and polytrauma. During her final in-house rotation at UHCO, Dr. Nguyen was one of the selected students to rotate through the Ambulatory Surgical Center, where she focused on performing pre-operative and post-operative examinations on cataract and LASIK patients.
After receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Nguyen returned back home to Arlington, where she is now part of the TSO Mansfield family. Dr. Nguyen is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. She particularly enjoys fitting specialty contact lenses such as sclerals, and providing comprehensive eye care for every patient. Dr. Nguyen is also proficient in providing eye exams in both Vietnamese and Spanish.
Being from the DFW metroplex, Dr. Nguyen bleeds blue and silver – in her free time, you can find her cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers. She also loves to travel, hike, and stay active at the gym. In her down time, she loves spending time with family, friends and her fur babies, and also knows how to throw down in the kitchen!
