Abigail Basler, O.D.

Dr. Abigail Basler is a Rhode Island native who moved to Texas to pursue her optometric education and quickly fell in love with the Lone Star State. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Rhode Island in 2022. It was during her undergraduate studies, while working directly inside an optometry practice, that she discovered her lifelong passion for helping patients achieve clearer vision and optimal eye health.

In 2022, Dr. Basler relocated to Texas to begin her rigorous optometric training at the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). Throughout her extensive clinical education, she gained hands-on experience across a diverse range of practice settings and advanced specialties. Her clinical training began at the Northside Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, where she provided comprehensive eye care with a heavy emphasis on diagnosing and managing complex ocular conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, and cataracts.

She then returned to Houston for an intensive in-house rotation focused on specialty contact lenses, low vision rehabilitation, and neuro-optometric care. For her final clinical rotation, she trained within a private practice in West Texas, further mastering her skills in comprehensive eye examinations, emergency foreign body removal, and the treatment of acute ocular disease.

While at UHCO, Dr. Basler actively participated in cutting-edge research projects focused on eye alignment and binocular vision. Demonstrating strong leadership and academic dedication, she served as Treasurer of Beta Sigma Kappa, the Optometric Honor Society, and received a prestigious Clinical Letter of Excellence in Low Vision Services. She graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of her class.

Dr. Basler chose to proudly remain in Texas to begin her career at Texas State Optical Mansfield. She is deeply committed to providing exceptional, patient-centric care and helping families in the community improve their vision, health, and overall quality of life.

Outside the Office:

When she isn't caring for patients, Dr. Basler loves traveling back to Rhode Island to visit family and friends. She also enjoys fishing, reading, playing board games, and spending quality time with her fiancé.
